Hen Party on Lake Balaton — sailing on the water, champagne on board

Every year more hen parties choose Lake Balaton as their venue — and for good reason. A sailboat deck is the private, Instagram-worthy yet party-ready setting that a classic spa weekend simply can't match. On johajot.hu you can choose from dozens of boats across 18 marinas, with transparent daily rates, a live calendar and an optional skipper — so the party can go ahead even without a license.

Why sailing? — 6 reasons a hotel can't match

Hen party packages on johajot.hu

Basic — Daytime sailing (4 hours, 6–8 people)

A morning departure, one swim break, a champagne toast, back in time for lunch. Perfect if the hen party is made up of several activities and you just want one "experience block".

  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Recommended boats: B31, Dufour 34, Bavaria 32
  • A skipper is recommended (alcohol and sailing don't mix)

Sunset — Half day + cocktails (5–6 hours)

An early-afternoon departure, sailing across to the northern shore, mooring at Tihany or Badacsony for dinner, then a sunset sail back. This is the gold mine for hen-party photos.

  • Duration: 5–6 hours
  • Popular routes: Balatonfüred ↔ Tihany, Alsóörs ↔ Tihany, Siófok ↔ Tihany
  • A skipper is recommended

Premium — Full-day sailing (8–10 hours)

On the water from early morning until evening, 2–3 swim breaks, mooring for lunch at a beach restaurant, a bowl of punch on deck, a sunset cocktail. If the hen party itself is meant to be the highlight of the day — this is the package.

  • Duration: 8–10 hours
  • Recommended boats: 8+ berths (Bavaria 34+, Elan 34+, B31 Long)
  • A skipper is mandatory

Weekend — 2-day mini getaway (with a night at the marina)

Departure Friday evening, staying on board or in an apartment ashore, a long sail on Saturday, brunch on deck on Sunday. For when the hen party isn't just an afternoon, but a whole weekend.

  • Duration: 2 days
  • Recommended marina combos: Balatonfüred → Szigliget → back
  • A skipper is mandatory

Frequently asked questions

Does someone in the group need a sailing license?

No. If you choose a package with a skipper (recommended if there will be alcohol on board), the skipper brings both the qualification and the responsibility.

Can you bring alcohol on board?

Yes, most boat owners allow it when you book with a skipper. If you're steering the boat yourself, the person at the helm may not drink.

How many people fit on a boat?

On johajot.hu you'll find boats for 2 to 12 people. For hen parties, boats for 6–10 people are the most popular — check the filter.

What happens if a storm rolls in?

In the event of a serious storm warning, the skipper decides in favor of safety; the booking can be moved to another date, or the owner refunds the fee. The exact terms are always set out at the time of booking.

How far in advance should I book?

In peak season (June–August) we recommend booking 3–6 weeks ahead, and up to 2 months for a sunset sail on a Saturday. In the shoulder season (April–May, September) 1–2 weeks is usually enough.

Can we order food and drinks for the boat?

Depending on the package, yes — johajot.hu's partners can help with a catering add-on, or you can bring your own cold platter, champagne and fruit.
